Glounthaune Community Association

We would like to share some insights into the collaborative efforts of the Glounthaune Community Association (GCA).

Who are we?

Glounthaune Community Association together with Glounthaune Men’s Shed, Glounthaune Meals on Wheels, and Glounthaune Tidy Towns, form a dedicated association committed to prioritising our community’s needs. Our teams work diligently to ensure that our community remains at the forefront of our initiatives.

Community Groups

Glounthaune Newsletter (published bi-monthly) by a volunteer Editor & team, Harper’s Island Wetlands volunteer group, Glounthaune Tidy Towns volunteer group, Glounthaune Meals on Wheels volunteer Drivers & Cooks, Active Retired Exercise Class, Craig’s Field Sensory Garden, Cork Parkinsons Group, First Responders Group and Residents Associations.

Location

Glounthaune Community Association is located in the ‘Old School House’ building by the beautiful waterside location of Glounthaune village. We are a thriving community centre and provide a warm and welcoming space for our community. Postal Code: T45 K124

What we provide

Our little centre is a hub of activity! Children’s classes include Irish Dancing, Kids Yoga, Mother & Baby Yoga, Guitar Class, Acting & Singing, Music Lessons, Toddler movement class, and Language Therapy class for Toddlers, Ballet for Children. For Adults, we have Yoga classes, Qigong, Tai Chi & meditation, Sewing/Craft classes, Exercise classes, Zumba, Bridge Club, Cork Parkinson’s support group, and Watercolour Art Class. We also provide a space for Church groups to meet and pray. The community centre is also used for community events. and birthday parties.

Support Received

Thanks to the generous support from Cork County Council community grants, Seacad funds, the National Lotteries, and the invaluable contributions from local businesses and donors. We have been able to secure the necessary resources to provide essential services and also enhance our local area.

We are grateful to the Directors and officers of our organisation for their unwavering commitment and efforts that ensure the smooth running of our group. Their leadership is instrumental in fostering a thriving community spirit.
